Section 12
A special team may be constituted to investigate
(1) Notwithstanding anything else written in this paragraph, in relation to any offense mentioned in Schedule-1 or Schedule-2 of this Code, in view of the seriousness of the offense, investigation cannot be conducted by the concerned investigation officer alone and it is appropriate to form a separate investigation team, the investigation officer's talukwala officer or the police. If the Inspector General feels like it, he can form an investigation team so that the employees under him are involved.
(2) Notwithstanding anything written in sub-section (1), if it is necessary to form an investigation team including other persons other than his subordinate employees, the Talukwala officer or the Inspector General of Police of such investigation officer may, after consulting the Attorney General, form an investigation team including experts and carry out the investigation. .
(3) If an investigation team is formed according to sub-section (1) or (2), such team shall investigate using the powers vested in the investigation officer in accordance with this paragraph.
(4) If an investigation team has been formed in accordance with sub-section (1) or (2), the details related to the investigation conducted by the relevant investigation officer shall be handed over to such team.
(5) The investigation team formed according to sub-section (1) or (2) shall conduct an investigation and submit its report to the relevant public prosecutor and give the information thereof to the relevant police office or the office or officer authorized to conduct the investigation.
(6) After receiving the report according to sub-section (5), if the public prosecutor deems necessary to give instructions for further investigation on any matter related to the offense, he may give necessary instructions to the investigation team to investigate the cause.
(7) According to sub-section (6) it shall be the duty of the concerned investigation team to follow the instructions given by the public prosecutor.
